Workshops for our Guests? Yes Please!

This month marked the first of many successful DIY workshops for us here at Jomara Hair Studio.   Our owner, Mariesa proved once again that she is a thought leader in the hairdressing industry.

The first workshop was Styling hair 101.  Workshops, typically reserved for hairdressers themselves have been reimagined for our Jomara Women- our guests. Mariesa's idea to bring our collective years of training alongside Lisa to our beautiful guests and friends of the salon was well received, and we had a full house.

Janine Casey, our Delorenzo products representative, attended to assist and the night encompassed lots of product information and guidance. The wine was served, laughs enjoyed, and the best bit? We had prizes! Our mission is to take guest service and hospitality to the next level. Not only did Janine educate attendees on products, but she also gave away Delorenzo packs!

Our goal for this workshop was to provide generous value in both products and services. Delorenzo products are biodegradable, vegan and sustainable, created specifically for the Australian climate. Australian UV levels are some of the highest in the world, which is why it is so important to care for hair correctly. Delorenzo was formulated with this in mind. For example, women learned to use Delorenzo’s Defence range for protecting hair from heat appliances.  Using Defence shampoo & conditioner and Extinguish Protecting Spray reduces breakage by 88%.

For Australians in particular, this is especially important as Australia is the skin cancer capital of the world. At least two in three Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer by the age of 70. The primary cause of skin cancer is exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. The damage this can likewise have on our hair.

Additional tips and training included guidance around the use of hair styling products. For instance, heat appliances should not be used above 200 degrees except on very thick, curly hair. 180 degrees is optimal for fine blonde hair and toned blonde hair, as any hotter can strip out toners leaving hair brassy.

Not solely educational, our Jomara Hair Studio workshop was also successful in engaging our guests with real-time, take-away value as Mariesa demonstrated the lovely high-pony with a hair twist and how attendees could blow dry their hair professionally to create gorgeous, textured curls or silky smooth glamour.

Feedback from the workshop was positive so more will be happening in the coming months. We all need a bit of fun in our lives, time to come together and enjoy each other's company while learning some new tricks and skills. The bond between all of you and our team is very special to us!

All of us at Jomara Hair Studio are all even more inspired to continue to serve the community of guests we are grateful to have.
